The Lies We Tell

Been thinking about the lies we tell others so that we don’t hurt their feelings and whether it is a mistake to do so. Been thinking about the lies we tell ourselves and how different they are from those others.

When we lie to others to spare their feelings there is a case that can be made as to whether it might cause needless pain and suffering. But the lies we tell ourselves are the worst because these are the things we do that hurt our heart, crush our souls and break our spirits.

It happens to all of us. We find ourselves feeding these false words to ourselves even though we know better. It reminds me of the women who put out on a date even though they don’t really want to. They kiss, fondle, blow or sleep with a guy as a thank you because for whatever reason they don’t have the ability to just say goodnight.

This is not  a good thing. It doesn’t send the right message.

I don’t say that because I am prude because I am anything but. I say it because I have been the guy who was given mixed messages and because when you discover it you end up in an awkward and uncomfortable position.

It is simply unnecessary.
